March 2018:: Pulau Redang

This was not my very first short escape in 2018, yet the very first entry in the blog. I am not a fan of snapping pictures because personally I feel the very best moment is enjoyed when I am not worried about posting in social media to let the world know where I have been to. On the other hand, having the memories written post-gateway gives a fond feeling towards the collection of all the adventures I went through. I also hope that the information helps others seeking to travel to these places.

Journey duration : 3 days 2 nights

Transportation Shah Alam - TBS : Grabcar (RM 31.30). It was much cheaper to take alternative public transport (KTM/LRT) but I was late already.


Transportation TBS - Kuala Terengganu & vice-versa : SP Bumi Bus (RM 95 back-forth)

Transportation KT - Jeti Merang : Any domestic bus ("bas lompat"; usually available daily from 7 am onwards) heading to Kuala Besut/Setiu (RM 5.50). Starting from end of 2017, there are Rapid-like buses provided namely MyBus. Look for MyBas T102 heading to Jeti Merang (public jetty).

Depending on the package provided by the resort, there are few that require departure from Jeti Shahbandar which is 15-minutes walking distance from the KT bus terminal. In my case, I needed to go to Redang Mutiara Jetty which is privately operated by the resort. The landmark to head there is Masjid Merang (jetty signboard is about 500-700m ahead).

Transportation Jeti Merang - Delima Beach Resort : 45 minutes - 1 hour boat journey. The price was inclusive in the 3D2N full board package : 3x snorkeling activity, 4x meals per day, room max 3 person. The room is super spacious and comfortable.

The very first thing to do is check-in at the reception counter located about 500m from the jetty. I did not snap picture of the reception place but I got below picture ;)

On the 18th, I took the 11am boat back to the main jetty. There is only single trip available at this resort. I enjoyed the last view of the island and sea before leaving them behind. Fortunately for me, u Mobile coverage is excellent on the side of the island where the resort is located. Upon arrival, I booked grabcar (RM43) and went to Hotel Indah (RM57++) to crash for a while before boarding the 10pm bus back to TBS.

Hotel Indah and few hotels are within walking distance to the bus terminal. It depends on your budget and time to choose the hotels. My last meal in KT was KFC delivery for lunch (RM 23++) and megi rebus for dinner (RM6.5) for dinner. For 11pm bus trip, it took at least 6 hours to reach TBS. Alhamdulillah I arrived safely at 4am and booked grabcar (RM34) back home. All in all, I spent around RM700 for this trip (can save more on the grabcar in future) and am very satisfied with it.
